A very heavily bodied coffee, offering intensity, low acidity and complexity with rustic fruit overtones and a deep bodied aroma.
This is a careful selection of coffee grown throughout the Bugisu region which lies to the East of Kampala, the capital city of Uganda stretching right to the Kenyan border. The terrain is a mix of gentle plains, rainforest, rivers and streams. Drought is not common here and the general climate is wet and cool.
Coffee is mostly intercropped with other food crops. The coffee cherries are sold to small micro-mills for washing and drying. The micro mills often set up
small seedling nurseries and training for farmers as transport and communication to these remote areas is not easy nor reliable.
The Bugisu Tribe are a part of the Masaba peoples, they are particularly known for their coffee growing around the Mbale District at around 1400 masl.
